Council approved water and wastewater rates based on water consumption effective April 1, 2023.

The water and wastewater rates support the operating costs associated to water and wastewater delivery. A significant portion of the operating cost is attributed to charges from York Region related to providing safe drinking water to Stouffville residents and the treatment of wastewater.

The Capital Infrastructure Fee stays the same for each billing period. Most homeowners have an under 1-inch water meter installed, therefore a $25.25 per quarter charge will be seen on each of your upcoming water bills. The following table summarizes the approved fees by water meter size:

The Capital Infrastructure fee rates are effective April 1, 2023 therefore your July water bill covers a period of April 2023 to June 2023.

The Capital Infrastructure fee is a fixed quarterly charge based on your property’s meter size. This gives the Town a stable source of annual funding to cover the costs of maintaining water supply and delivery as well as wastewater collection and treatment. Visit www.townofws.ca/watervideo

The Capital Infrastructure Fee is a fixed rate to ensure that every time you turn on the taps in your home, there is clean, safe drinking water available, and the dirty water is taken away in the wastewater system. The fees will support our water and wastewater capital infrastructure as follows:

Water: Pays for water distribution, collection, treatment and infrastructure maintenance and renewal.

Wastewater: Pays for wastewater collection, treatment and infrastructure maintenance and renewal.
