Voters

In general, you can vote if you are:

• A Canadian Citizen; and
• At least 18 years of age; and
• A resident of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville; or
• A non-resident of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, but you or your spouse own or rent property in the Town; and
• Are not prohibited from voting under any law.

You may only vote once for the municipal election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Town. You may however vote in multiple Municipal Elections if you own property in other municipalities. 

If you cannot attend in person on Voting Day, you may appoint another eligible voter to vote on your behalf through a proxy arrangement. The voter requiring the proxy must complete Form 3, including a wet signature, and have the proxy voter bring it to the municipal office for the election team to sign. The proxy voter may then present the signed form at the voting location and cast a ballot on behalf of that voter. Elections Ontario is responsible for maintaining the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, commonly known as the Voters’ List. In order to vote in the upcoming Municipal Election which will be held on October 26, 2026, you must be on the Voters’ List.
