Overnight parking restrictions lifted Dec. 22 - Jan. 2

Town Offers Worry-free Parking this Holiday Season

The Town of Stouffville is lifting winter parking restrictions this holiday season from December 22 through January 2. During this time, residents and visitors will not require parking permits to park more than three-hours or overnight on town streets.

“The holidays should be about joy and connection, not parking concerns,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “During this festive season, residents and visitors can park beyond the usual three-hour limit, including overnight, without fear of getting a ticket. On behalf of the Office of the Mayor and Members of Council, Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025."

This temporary lifting of restrictions is not applicable during winter weather events, including significant snow falls and storms. The Town asks that residents are mindful of weather reports and remove their vehicles from streets so that snow removal vehicles can safely do their job.

Other parking restrictions will continue to be enforced on these dates, including, but not limited to:

  • Parking that interferes with the clearing of snow;
  • Parking within 3 metres of a fire hydrant;
  • Parking in a fire route;
  • Parking that obstructs a sidewalk;
  • Parking that interferes with traffic;
  • Parking a vehicle that faces the opposite direction that traffic is proceeding;
  • Parking within 9 metres of an intersection; and
  • Parking within a “No Parking” or “No Stopping” Zone.

Winter parking restrictions are in effect from December 1 until March 31 each year. Outside of the worry-free holiday parking timeline, winter parking restrictions prohibit all on-street parking between the hours of 2 AM and 6 AM.
