Memorial Park Multi-Purpose Trail Opening Update

We are excited to announce that the new multi-purpose trail at Memorial Park is opening for use. Work is being done today to open up the park in time for residents to enjoy the trail for scooters, rollerblades, and walking this weekend. This inclusive space provides a wonderful opportunity for all ages and abilities to engage in recreational activities.

The Memorial Park Trail, located west of the Leisure Centre and Public Library, features a 275-metre path made possible through a generous grant from The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). This trail aims to create an inclusive, sustainable community hub that promotes outdoor activities and healthy living.

Current and Upcoming Use:

  • Summer Use: The trail is open for walking, scooters, rollerblading, and walking. The asphalt path surrounding the trail is also excellent for walking or dog walking.
  • Winter Use: The trail will be ready in the winter for ice skating as weather permits.
  • Building Access: While the trail is accessible, the adjacent building remains fenced off as work continues to complete accessible washrooms, changerooms, and storage facilities for the ice resurfacer.
  • Protected Areas: Some areas remain fenced to protect newly laid sod and minor ongoing work.
  • Signage and Notices:  Work will continue to complete this project, the Town will have clear signage and notices will be posted to keep the community informed of any sectioned-off areas to support planned work.

We are pleased to open the park portion of the Memorial Park Skate Trail and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to finalize this project. Come and experience the new multi-purpose trail at Memorial Park!
