100 Year Anniversary of the York Regional Forest Exhibition Comes to the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum
In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the York Regional Forest, York Region is thrilled to announce a captivating exhibition in collaboration with the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre. This unique showcase takes visitors on a remarkable journey through the history and evolution of the York Regional Forest since its establishment in 1924.
Admission to The York Regional Forest, A Growing Legacy exhibition is free, and open at the Museum throughout the year to people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
“This exhibition is an opportunity to connect with nature, learn about our forest's legacy, and inspire future generations to preserve and cherish this natural resource,” said Rob Braid, Commissioner of Community Services. “We look forward to celebrating the York Regional Forest’s rich heritage with visitors to the Museum throughout 2024.”

This exhibition is a part of York Region’s year-long celebration, packed with free activities, forest walks, and events for everyone to enjoy. Dive into the fascinating history of the Forest and witness its growth and transformation over the past century.
Popular activities in the York Regional Forest include hiking, dog walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, nature appreciation and educational programming. From the tranquil Hollidge Tract to the vibrant North, Hall and Nobleton tracts, visitors are welcome, free of charge, every day of the year.
Celebrate Family Day early with a visit to the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre on Saturday, February 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. In celebration of the York Regional Forest turning 100, the free event will feature activities and events for everyone.
