Edward Street Improvements Now Complete
The Town Stouffville is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Edward Street Reconstruction Project, marking a major milestone in the Town’s infrastructure enhancement initiative.
This extensive project delivered a full reconstruction and extension of Edward Street, from Main Street to Millard Street, featuring infrastructure improvements to enrich community mobility and aesthetics. The project scope included upgraded underground infrastructure (upsized watermain, sanitary, and storm sewers); a widened sidewalk on the west boulevard and a new 3‑metre‑wide multi‑use path on the east boulevard; installation of new street lighting; enhanced landscaping featuring coloured stamped concrete, sod, trees, and other plantings; as well as installation of pedestrian crossovers at multiple locations.
The Edward Street extension was strategically completed in advance of the Town’s Downtown Revitalization Project. As Main Street undergoes major reconstruction, Edward Street will provide a vital alternate access route to support continued mobility, business operations, and community connection in the heart of Stouffville. This improvement helps lay the groundwork for a more vibrant, accessible, and resilient downtown as we proceed with the Downtown Revitalization project.
These improvements were delivered on schedule, within budget, and align with the Town’s goals of increasing safety, walkability, accessibility, and environmental quality throughout the corridor.
