Asphalt Work at Library Lane and 6240 Main Street
As part of ongoing downtown improvements, Library Lane and sections of the 6240 Main Street front parking lot will undergo asphalt work to support the creation of new parking spaces and the future urban plaza.
Project Details:
- Location: Library Lane and 6240 Main Street front parking lot area
- Purpose: To create new parking spaces to support those impacted by the new plaza, and to improve drainage and site functionality.
- Start Date: November 1st 2025
- Estimated Completion: November 14th 2025
Scope of Work:
0 Library Lane
- Paving to create new parking spaces
- Removal of fencing along the south and west sides of Library Lane
- Stripping of the designated area
- Asphalt paving and installation of new parking lines
6240 Main Street (Area #15)
- Removal of existing asphalt and stairs
- Addition of a new granular base and drainage channel connected to the Main Street catch basin
- Parking lot reinstated for residents and visitor use until Spring 2026
Construction Phasing:
- Phase 1 (Fall 2025): Completion of 0 Library Lane. Rehabilitation of 6240 Main Street (Area #15)
- Phase 2 (Spring/Summer 2026): Final paving of 6240 Main Street (Area #15), followed by installation of new plaza furnishings including the music shed, planters, and seating
During construction, the northern portion of the parking lot will be fenced off and used as a contractor staging area.
Business & Resident Impacts:
- Temporary parking and access adjustments during work hours
- Increased noise, truck traffic, and equipment activity during construction
- Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times, with signage provided as needed
