Town Offers Worry-free Parking This Holiday Season

The Town of Stouffville is once again offering worry-free holiday parking by lifting winter on-street overnight parking restrictions from December 22 to January 2 inclusive. During this period, residents and visitors will not need permits to park overnight on Town streets.

“This time of year is about celebrating with loved ones, not stressing about where guests can park,” says Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt. “From December 22 to January 2, residents and visitors will not receive tickets for parking longer than three hours, including overnight.”

Please note: This temporary pause on restrictions does not apply during winter weather events, such as significant snowfall or storms. Residents are reminded to keep an eye on weather forecasts and remove vehicles from the street when snow clearing is required to ensure crews can safely and effectively maintain our roads.

All other parking regulations remain in effect during this time, including:

  • Parking that interferes with snow clearing
  • Parking within 3 metres of a fire hydrant
  • Parking that blocks a sidewalk or obstructs traffic
  • Parking in the opposite direction of traffic
  • Parking within 9 metres of an intersection
  • Parking in posted “No Parking” or “No Stopping” zones

Winter parking restrictions resume on January 3 and continue through March 31, with all on-street parking prohibited between 2 AM and 6 AM.

“From the Office of the Mayor and Members of Council, we wish you and your family a safe and joyful holiday season,” says Mayor Lovatt.
