Stouffville 55+ Club Receives Provincial Designation as a Seniors Active Living Centre

The Town of Stouffville is proud to announce that the Stouffville 55+ Club, located at 6240 Main Street, has officially received designation as a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) under the Government of Ontario’s Seniors Active Living Centre Program.

This exciting recognition, awarded this winter, highlights the Stouffville 55+ Club’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive space where older adults can lead active, healthy, and socially connected lives. The SALC Program supports this mission through a variety of services and activity-based programs, including fitness classes, educational workshops, health and wellness services, and community-building events—all designed to help seniors remain engaged, independent, and close to home.

“This provincial recognition underscores the importance of our local seniors and the vital role the 55+ Club plays in their everyday lives,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “We’re grateful for this support and look forward to building on this momentum.”

With a growing membership of over 1,700 older adults and an average of 450 weekly visits, the Club is a vital hub for Stouffville’s senior community. This provincial designation brings not only recognition but also vital financial support. Through the SALC Program, the Club will benefit from an ongoing annual operational grant of up to $50,000, which will further support the Club’s programs and services.

The Town extends its gratitude to the Province of Ontario for this meaningful investment in the health and well-being of local seniors. With this new designation, the Stouffville 55+ Club is poised to expand its impact and continue building a stronger, more connected community for years to come.
