York Region has experienced freezing rain through the evening and overnight. North and central areas of the Region have experienced multiple locations with trees and hydro lines down on the roadway. This has caused extensive road closures within these areas. Resources are actively addressing the concerns and roadways will be opened up as soon as it is safe to do so.

In Stouffville, our roads and sidewalks salters were deployed this morning at 4 am to cover all streets and sidewalks.

Ice storm conditions can lead to possible power outages. Refer to Hydro One’s website or social media for current outage information and power restoration timelines.

Stouffville crews have been patrolling and salting roads overnight. All road salters and sidewalk machines were deployed this morning at 4:00 AM to salt all roads and sidewalks. Plows have made best efforts to push any loose branches off the side of the road and sidewalks as required.

In addition, crews are currently active cutting branches and removing debris in the Ballantrae and Musselman’s Lake area as well as northern rural streets with large mature trees.  The priority today is keeping roadways clear and safe. Clean up efforts, involving the removal of debris, will continue into the week.
