Court Dismisses Bethesda Sports Park Legal Proceedings

May 15, 2025

The Ontario Superior Court has dismissed a lawsuit against the Town of Stouffville over a 2021 conditional offer for Bethesda Sports Park. The court upheld the Town’s position that it acted appropriately and never listed the park for sale. Mayor Lovatt reaffirmed Council’s commitment to planning and community interests.

Stouffville 55+ Club Receives Provincial Designation as a Seniors Active Living Centre

The Town of Stouffville is proud to announce that the Stouffville 55+ Club has been officially designated as a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) by the Government of Ontario. This provincial recognition supports the Club’s efforts to offer active, inclusive programs for older adults. With over 1,700 members and 450 weekly visits, the Club will now receive up to $50,000 annually through the SALC Program to enhance its services and strengthen community connections.

Stouffville Announces New Agreement For Ballantrae Multi-Sport Complex

The Town of Stouffville is announcing a new chapter for the long-anticipated Ballantrae Multi-Sport Complex. After extensive efforts and two years of working closely with the former leaseholder to see this facility constructed, the Town has formally terminated the lease agreement with Ballantrae Sports Group. In its place, a new partnership has been finalized with Mentana Group, a company with a proven track record in delivering high-quality community sport and recreation infrastructure.

Service Interruption Notice – Brown-Out Power Outage

April 29, 2025

A regional brown-out is causing intermittent power outages at several Town facilities. The Leisure Centre (LC) is closed to the public. Swim lessons and all other scheduled programs that are at the LC, and select off-site locations are cancelled. Emails have been sent to participants. Staff remain on-site at the LC and will restart drop-in activities as soon as power is restored. Expected restoration time is 8 PM.

Region to Resurface North Tract Accessible Trail

April 28, 2025

York Region is resurfacing the accessible trail at North Tract to enhance safety, durability, and accessibility. As part of the project, the trail entrance and accessible parking will be relocated to improve drainage and provide more parking. The accessible trail will be closed from early to mid-May, weather permitting, but the rest of North Tract will remain open. Visitors are encouraged to use other trails during construction, with the nearest alternate accessible trail located at Hollidge Tract. Town of Stouffville Offers Condolences Following the Passing of Pope Francis

The Town of Stouffville extends condolences to the Catholic community following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. As the first Latin American and Jesuit pope, he was widely respected for his efforts to modernize the Church and promote peace, inclusion and environmental protection. Flags have been lowered to half-mast in his honour.
