Yard Waste Collection Resumes in April

The Town of Stouffville’s curbside yard waste collection has resumed and will continue every other week until November. Residents are reminded to follow proper set-out guidelines to ensure collection.

Accepted Yard Waste Materials:

  • Leaves and garden plants
  • Tree clippings and fine brush
  • Bundled branches (maximum 2ft high by 3ft long and under 3in in diameter)

Yard waste must be placed in:

  • Paper yard waste bags, or
  • Open-top garbage containers clearly marked with a yellow yard waste sticker (available at Town Hall, 111 Sandiford Drive)

Please note:

  • Do not use plastic bags, blue boxes, cardboard boxes, or containers that resemble blue boxes
  • Ripped or torn bags will not be collected

Try Backyard Composting!

Residents are encouraged to consider backyard composting as an environmentally friendly option. Backyard composters are available for purchase from the Customer Service Centre at Town Hall, with delivery available.

Temporary Free Drop-Off for Storm-Related Waste

In response to the recent ice storms and associated cleanup needs, York Region is offering free drop-off of specific storm-related materials at the Georgina Transfer Station until April 30.

Accepted items include:

  • Leaf and yard debris
  • Spoiled food resulting from power outages

Residents must inform the weigh scale attendant that their drop-off is related to storm damage.
