WARD 6

Sue Sherban

Born and raised at Musselman’s Lake, Sue Sherban attended Ballantrae Public School, Stouffville District Secondary School, and Seneca College. Whitchurch-Stouffville is where Sue met and married her late husband Peter, and this small town is where they chose to raise their three daughters Lindsay, Lisa, and Lesley. One of the greatest joys of Sue’s life is watching her daughters turn into successful young women and start families of their own; Sue’s seven grandchildren have given her another perspective on life and have brought lots of energy to their growing family. For many years Sue owned and operated her own local small business after which she had a career in marketing and customer service. Sue has served locally as Ward 6 Councillor from 1997-2003, 2018 to present, and once as Mayor from 2003 to 2006.

Having served as a member of many Town committees and supported a number of volunteer organizations, Sue started her political career as a local advocate for an indoor pool which came to fruition during her first term as Ward 6 Councillor. Whitchurch-Stouffville’s small-town charm is rooted in our heritage assets and their preservation of them is paramount. Sue lobbied to save the old town hall and bring new life to an old heritage asset which we now know as 19 on the Park. Sue is also a strong supporter of the Strawberry Festival, having sat on the committee for over 18 years and helped to raise significant capital dollars for the organization.

Ward 6 is one of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville’s largest municipal wards with over 10,000 residents. Sue brings an experienced strong voice to the table for Ward 6 residents and listens to your concerns, acts on your behalf, and works collaboratively with all of council to bring about meaningful change. Sue is known for speaking out for her residents and continues to engage Ward 6 by holding annual town hall meetings and providing social media platforms to keep her residents up to date on the important issues happening in town, and specifically Ward 6.

Sue believes through hard work and collaboration, we can help guide this small town back to its shared corporate values of Accountability, Commitment, Honesty, Inclusiveness, Excellence, Vision, Efficiency, Respect, and Safety.
