Engineering & Public Works

The Engineering & Public Works Commission is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the municipal right-of-way infrastructure which includes roads, sidewalks, streetlights, traffic signals, signage and pavement markings, boulevard trees, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, storm water management facilities, and drainage facilities.

Divisions

Engineering

The Engineering Division oversees the engineering review of development within the Town and manages works and agreements related to subdivisions/site plans, including inspections and closeout processes. It also administers the Site Alteration By-Law and issue the clean fill permits.

Transportation and Fleet Services

Transportation and Fleet Services is responsible for Road Maintenance; Storm Water Management; Winter Maintenance; Traffic Control; Sidewalks; Streetlights;  Crossing Guards; Municipal Consents; and Municipal Fleet Services.

The Operations Centre is located at 5061 Bethesda Road.

Environmental Services

Environmental Services is responsible for Waste Management; Water & Sewer infrastructure; Water Quality; and Utility Locates.

Capital Projects

The Capital Projects Division is responsible for implementing projects identified in the Town’s Capital Works Program. Projects typically include Environmental Assessments, technical studies, design, construction, and rehabilitation of roads, watermains, sanitary sewers, stormwater infrastructure, and pedestrian facilities.
