Calling all local barn, stable, winery, and garden centre owners! The Town is asking for your help to provide a good home for cats in need. Every year, hundreds of cats come into the care of our Town’s Animal Services Department. While we do our absolute best to find homes for each and every cat, some cats do not adapt well to being placed in a traditional home and, instead, may benefit from life as a working cat or “Barn Buddy”. Many of these cats were raised in feral or semi-feral conditions or were rescued from animal hoarding or abuse situations.

All of our Barn Buddies are FREE to adopt and come spayed, neutered, vaccinated, and de-wormed. Our Barn Buddies offer a more humane, poison-free alternative to rodent control in your barn or greenhouse. To qualify for this program, you must: have a warm, dry, relatively quiet structure such as a barn or greenhouse on your property; be willing to provide food and water daily as most cats cannot survive on mousing alone; be willing to accept at least 2x cats (the cats adapt to their new environment better if taken in groups); and, provide regular vaccines and genuine care for their well-being for as long as they should live.
